수동적인 초기성인학습자의 자기주도성 변화 연구

본 연구는 학습 초기에 수동적인 학습태도를 가지고 있던 초기성인학습자들이 고등교육기관의 직업교육과정에 참여하게 되면서 자기주도적으로 변화하게 되는 원인과 과정을 심층적으로 규명하고자 하는 관점에서 접근하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 수동적인 학습태도의 양상을 보이던 초기성인학습자가 자신의 학습을 주체적으로 주도해 가는 것으로 변모해 가는 것을 해명하고자 하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 연구목적과 부합하는 고등교육기관 초기성인학습참여자 8명을 선정하여 질적 연구방법의 심층인터뷰를 실시하고 그 자료를 분석하였다. 분석결과 초기성인학습자들은 일반적인 인식과 다르게 자기주도성을 갖춘 것이 아니며, 학습을 경험하고 스스로 과제를 해결하는 과정을 통해 자신감과 자기주도성을 자각한다는 것을 발견하였다. 즉, 초기성인은 학습 초기에 학습에 대한 경험부족과 병렬적 상황 등의 원인으로 수동적 학습태도를 갖으나, 학습과정을 겪으며 학습경험의 축적과 동료들 간의 교류▪협력 등의 촉매제에 의해 자신감을 회복하게 됨으로써 자기주도적 학습태도를 갖게 된다는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This qualitative study was conducted in higher educational settings and examines how the self-directedness of young adults changes as they study. Specifically, this study seeks to highlight how and why young adults who attend colleges, educational institutes attached in colleges, or universities participate and engage in learning. In-depth interviews were conducted with eight young adult learners who had experienced changes in their learning. There were five primary categories of findings: (1) the learners showed low levels of self-efficacy and passive learning styles at the beginning of their learning; (2) the learners had difficulty in dealing with multiple roles as adults; (3) the levels of the learners' self-directedness increased as they studied with others; (4) the learners recognized the changes in their self-directedness; and (5) the learners turned into self-directed learners as their learning progressed.
