전이학습의 관점에서 바라본 베이비부머 퇴직자의 앙코르 커리어 활동 경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구

초록

이 연구의 목적은 베이비부머 연구참여자들이 퇴직 이후 인생 2막의 삶을 살아가며 경험하고 있는 앙코르 커리어 활동 이야기를 전이학습 관점에서 그 의미를 드러내는 것이다. 내러티브 탐구 연구방법론으로 연구를 수행하였으며, 연구자료는 세 명의 연구참여자의 심층면담과 그들이 직접 저술한 자전적 책 등 관련 자료를 통해 수집되었다. 자료수집 기간은 2016년 12월부터 2017년 8월까지이며, 7월과 8월에 2차에 걸친 심층면담으로 연구 텍스트를 작성하였고, 자료의 분석은 Clandinin과 Connelly(2004)가 제안하는 내러티브 탐구의 절차에 따라 수행되었다. Stroobants, Jans와 Wildemeersch(2001)가 제시한 전이학습의 이론적 프레임워크 중 네 가지 기본전략과 네 가지 조합전략의 관점에서 앙코르 커리어 활동 이야기를 분류하고 분석하여 도식화 하였다. 이 과정을 통해 도출된 핵심 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구참여자들이 경험한 앙코르 커리어 활동의 내용은 앙코르 전기, 중기, 후기라는 시간성과 연구참여자별로 서로 다른 핵심메타포를 가지고 있었다. 앙코르 전기에는 인생 2막을 위해 앙코르 무대를 다시 준비하기 위한 적응, 자극, 성장, (재)설계 활동이 이루어졌다. 지나온 삶의 반성과 남은 인생을 어떻게 살아가야할지 개인적 차원에서 행위에 대한 성찰이 이루어졌다. 앙코르 중기에는 이러한 성장을 바탕으로 평생학습을 추구하고 강조하는 (재)설계, 자신만의 방법으로 앙코르 커리어 활동을 추구하는 차별, 진짜 나로 살아가기와 내가 되어가고자 도전하는 모습이 나타났다. 앙코르 후기에는 앙코르 커리어 활동이 사회적 성찰로 발전해 사회적 의미와 변화 가능성에 초점을 맞추고, 누군가를 위한 의미 있는 존재되어가기, 자신만의 꿈꾸기와 가치 있는 행동을 지향하는 인생을 저항하며 (재)구성해 나갔다. 둘째, 전이학습 관점에서 연구참여자들이 경험한 앙코르 커리어 활동의 의미는 네 가지 기본전략과 네 가지 조합전략으로 요약해 볼 수 있다. 먼저, 네 가지 기본전략 중에서 적응, 성장, 차별, 저항 전략을 통해 각각 드러난 의미는 화려했던 인생 1막의 무대에서 내려와 앙코르 무대를 다시 준비하기, 남은 인생 내가 좋아하고 잘 할 수 있고, 가치 있다고 여겨지는 일을 하기 위한 전인적 성장 추구하기, 자신만의 방법으로 앙코르 커리어 활동을 추구하기, 꿈꾸기와 가치 있는 행동 지향하기이다. 다음으로, 네 가지 조합전략 중에서 자극, (재)설계, 도전, (재)구성 전략을 통해 각각 드러난 의 의미는 지나온 삶의 반성과 남은 인생을 어떻게 살아가야할지 성찰하기, 평생학습을 추구하기, 진짜 나로 살아가기와 내가 되어가기, 누군가에게 의미 있는 존재가 되어가기이다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reveal the significance of the encore career activity story from the viewpoint of transition learning that the participant of the baby boomer study experiences the life of the second act of life after retirement. The research was carried out using the narrative inquiry research methodology. The research data were collected through the in-depth interview of the two research participants and related materials such as autobiographical books written by them. The data collection period is from December, 2016 to August, 2017, and the research text is written by the second interview in July and August. The data analysis is based on the narrative inquiry proposed by Clandinin and Connelly (2004) & Stroobants, Jans and Wildemeersch (2001) classified and analyzed encore career activity stories from the perspective of four basic strategies and four combination strategies out of the theoretical frameworks of transition learning. Key findings from this process are as follows. First, the contents of the encore career activities experienced by the research participants had different core metaphors according to the time performance of the encore biography, the middle and late period, and the research participants. Second, the implications of the encore career activities experienced by the research participants in terms of transition learning can be summarized as four basic strategies and four combination strategies.
