평생교육 담당자들의 평생교육 개념 이해에 대한 질적 면접 연구

이 논문은 평생교육 개념이 실천 현장에서 어떤 의미로 수용되고 있는지를 검토하였다. 4개 지역에서 15개 평생교육기관 실무 담당자들을 질적 면접을 통해 연구한 결과 다음과 같은 점들을 발견하였다. 첫째, 평생교육 담당자들에게 평생교육 개념은 생소하고 혼돈스러운 개념이었다. 둘째, 평생교육 개념은 어쩔 수 없이 시행하는 의례적인 업무의 개념이었다. 셋째, 평생교육 개념은 주민들의 교양과 여가를 위한 복리후생의 개념이었다. 이러한 연구결과에 대하여 이 연구는 평생교육의 개념적 괴리, 실천적 관료성, 제도의 협역성 등의 관점에서 논의하였고, 향후에도 지속적으로 평생교육의 실천적 맥락을 파악하는 연구가 필요함을 제안하였다.
Abstract
I examined how lifelong education concept was perceived by practitioners in the field of lifelong education. I interviewed 15 practitioners in lifelong education institutions from 4 cities. I found that 1) lifelong education concept was a strange and confusing one; 2) it was an inevitable duty and conventional work; and 3) it was a kind of welfare for quality of residents' culture and leasure. I discussed about these results in the respects of conceptual gaps between formal definition and reality, bureaucratic practices and formalism, and institutional delimitation of the concept. In addition, I suggested the necessity of further studies to explore the lifelong education's practicality and contextuality.
