해방기 이동의 정치학 - 염상섭의 단편소설을 중심으로 -

Abstract

I tried to observe the large scale of people's movement, the great migration which has followed after the collapse of the Japanese Empire. This large scale of movement in population has begun with the end of the 2nd World War which meant the liberation of Korean Peninsular, the deconstruction of the Empire and the Establishment of the Cold War System. This movement has been named 'repatriation', thus any narrative related with it has been conceptualized as 'repatriate narrative'. However, it seems that the attempt to conceptualize the multiple aspects of this phenomenon as a matter of repatriation or to set it up for a subject of the history of national ordeals and disgrace is the result of the one-sided interpretation. When one reduces the wide range of the migration or the movement of the population in the Liberation Period to the national repatriation, even if he or she has not intended, it would block the multiple possibilities and potentialities of 'the mobility' itself. To take aim at the political potentiality through restoration of this 'mobility' is the very intention and the critical point of this thesis. So to speak, I tried to describe the mobility in the Liberation Period not in the context of the establishment of national state, but with the remains of it. On the point of this consciousness, I have thoroughly examined Yeom Sang-seop's short stories-The Chaos, An Intrigue, The 38th Parallel, Footprint on the Bottom. The migration or the movement in the population appears not in the natural process of the formation of the state nor the nation in these stories. On the contrary, the ones who move threaten the national security and raise the public anxiety. Therefor, the state could protect the security of the system by the exclusion of this moving people.
