后山 鄭胤永의 『瀛嶽錄』 一考察

본고는 금강산 유기로 아직 학계에 보고되지 않은 后山 鄭胤永의 『瀛嶽錄』을 살펴본 것이다. 정윤영은 1897년 8월 16일 安城을 출발하여 內外金剛과 東海를 유람하고 10월 8일 귀향했다. 『영악록』은 화성 향토박물관에 소장되어 있으며, 총 99면, 17,956자이다. 특징 중 하나는 前代 문인들의 금강산 관련 기록을 대폭 수용했다는 점이다. 그 중에서도 金昌協의 「東游記」와는 그 체제나 실제 내용에서 유사한 측면이 너무도 많다. 전인의 기록을 대폭 수용한 것은 『영악록』을 쓴 의도가, 단순히 금강산의 소개에 있는 것이 아니라, 나름대로의 목적의식이 있었음을 의미한다. 그 목적은 첫째, 금강산의 절경을 효과적으로 드러내기 위함이었다. 『영악록』에는 산수 유람과 관련된 수많은 중국 기록도 포함되어 있다. 직접 금강산을 말하지 않고 중국의 뛰어난 산수만을 표현함으로써 금강산의 절경을 간접적으로 드러냈고, 중국 산수와의 대비를 통해 금강산이 비교 우위에 있음을 강조했다. 둘째, 유자적 사유를 체험하는 장으로 활용하기 위함이었다. 유람을 통해, 유자로서 평소 익혔던 사유를 현실이라는 공간에서 체득하는 기회로 삼았다. 또한 검증이 필요한 부분은 철저하게 고증하는 자세를 취했다. 셋째, 산수에 대한 자신만의 견해를 피력하기 위함이었다. 절경의 산수에 대해서는 칭송을 마다하지 않았지만, 암벽에 새겨진 이름이나 정자에 걸린 작품 등을 통해 東國의 유람 습속에 대해서는 비판의 날을 세웠다. 넷째, 자신의 삶을 반추하는 계기로 삼기 위함이었다. 척화 관련 소장으로 유배의 시련을 겪었는데, 그러한 시련의 삶에 대한 진지한 회고가 담겨 있다. 자신의 삶을 돌아보는 계기로 유람을 활용했는데, 이 부분에 적지 않은 분량을 할애한 측면에서도 그 목적의식을 살필 수 있다.
Abstract
This paper examines Jeong Yun-young's 『Yeongakrok』, a travel journal related to Mt. Geumgang, which is not yet known. He was in 1897, the Anseong, on August 16 starting Mount Geumgang and donghae a sightseeing trip and returned home on October 8. After he returned from his trip, it was 『Yeongakrok』 that summarized the trip. One of the biggest features of the book is that it embraces the records of previous writers. Among them, Kim Chang-hyup's 「Dongyugi」 is very similar in terms of its system and contents. Records of the journey, descriptions of the scenery, and personal impressions were also greatly accepted by Kim Chang-hyup. In addition, he accepted records such as Lee Eui-hyun, Oh Do-il, Nam Hyo-on and Hong Kyung-mo, calling himself a record of former writers. The reason why the records of the previous writers were greatly accepted seems to have been due to their own sense of purpose. First, it was to effectively reveal the scenic beauty of Mt. Geumgang. It indirectly revealed the scenic beauty of Mt. Geumgang by expressing only the outstanding scenery of China without directly mentioning Mt. It also emphasized that Mt. Geumgang is cooler in contrast to the Chinese landscape. Second, it was intended to be used as a venue for experiencing academic reasons. As a scholar, he used his usual learning as an opportunity to learn from the real world. He also took a stance of thoroughly testifying the parts that needed to be verified. These are all derived from scholarly reasons. Third, it was to show his own view of nature. He praised the wonderful scenery. However, he sharply criticized the name carved on the cliff or the work hung on the building. Fourth, it was to use it as an opportunity to look back on one's life. This book contains a serious retrospective on life that has undergone difficulties. After all, he took advantage of his trip to Mt. Geumgang as an opportunity to look back on his life. I hope this paper will serve as the basis for research on not only Jeong Yun-yeong's 『Yeongakrok』, but also his travel records to Mt. Geumgang.
