본 연구는 최근 이커머스 업계에서 발생한 대규모 미정산 사태인 티몬․위메프 사건을 재무관리적 관점에서 분석하고 그 대책을 모색한다. 본 사태의 주요 원인으로 유동성 관리 실패와 경영진의 도덕적 해이를 제시한다. 이러한 문제는 이커머스 업계만의 특수한 문제가 아니기 때문에 대책의 마련에 있어 이커머스 업계 전반에 대한 규제 강화보다는 재무관리적 접근이 효율적일 것임을 강조한다. 유동성 관리 실패로 인한 피해 확산 및 도덕적 해이 문제를 방지하기 위한 대책을 제안하나, 규제는 재무 건정성이 취약한 곳에 집중할 것을 권장한다. 본 연구는 이커머스 업계의 신뢰성 확보를 위한 규제가 필요할 수 있으나 업계의 혁신을 저해하지 않는 유연한 경영 환경 마련의 필요성을 강조하며, 해외 기반 이커머스 기업에 대한 법적 책임 문제에도 주의를 기울여야 함을 지적한다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the Timon․WeMakePrice case, a recent large-scale non-settlement in the e-commerce industry, from a financial management perspective and seeks to find solutions. The main causes of this case are liquidity management failure and management moral hazard. Since these problems are not unique to the e-commerce industry, I emphasize that a financial management approach would be more effective than strengthening regulations for the e-commerce industry as a whole. While I propose measures to prevent the spread of damage and moral hazard problems caused by liquidity management failures, I recommend that regulation should focus on areas of weak financial strength. While regulation may be necessary to ensure the credibility of the e-commerce industry, this study emphasizes the need for a flexible business environment that does not stifle innovation in the industry and points out that attention should be paid to the issue of legal liability for foreign-based e-commerce companies.
