다원주의시대의 미술감상 교육에서 비평의 역할: Arthur Danto의 예술이론에 입각한 미술비평방법 제안

본 논문은 A. Danto의 예술이론을 기초로 하여 동시대 미술 감상교육에 적합한 비평방법을 제안하는 것을목표로 한다. 오늘날은 다양한 가치가 공존한다는 의미에서 다원주의시대이면서 동시에 무엇이든지 미술이 될수 있는 시대라고 할 수 있다. 미적 속성이 없는 미술작품도 등장하고 그 작품들 중 몇몇 작품은 높은 예술적질을 가지고 있다고 평가되기도 한다. 그런데 오늘날은 아직까지 이런 작품의 감상에 적합한 비평방법이 마련되지 않은 상황이다. 필자는 첫째, 미술감상과 비평은 전혀 다른 종류의 활동인데, 실제 미술교육 현장에서는명확하게 구분이 되지 않아서 감상이 줄 수 있는 유익한 교육 효과를 놓치고 있다는 점을 지적했다. 둘째, 현재 올바른 미술감상을 위해 교육 현장에 도입된 비평방법론이 형식주의 경향의 작품들에 대한 설명에는 도움을 주지만, 미적 속성을 가지고 있지 않은 작품들의 설명에는 한계가 있다는 점을 주장했다. 셋째, 이를 해결하기 위해 A. Danto의 예술이론을 기초로 하여 새로운 미술비평방법론을 제시했다. 이 방법론은 다원주의 작품들을 모두 포괄해서 설명할 수 있는 장점이 있다는 점을 주장했다. 이 방법론이 실제 미술감상과 비평 교육에 적용될 수 있고, 학생들의 감상교육에 도움이 된다는 점을 주장했다. 이 연구는 A. Danto의 예술이론과그 밖의 비평이론들, 그리고 다양한 미술교육자들의 감상교육 문헌들을 분석하여 결과를 도출한 논문임을 밝혀둔다.
Abstract
Based on Danto’s the theory of contemporary art, this thesis aims to propose suggestions for criticism’s methodology for the appreciation of contemporary arts. Today is the era of pluralism. Yet, there is no way to adequately criticize such paintings with no aesthetic property. First, art appreciation and criticism are totally different types of activities, which point to the fact that they miss the educational effects of appreciation because they are not clearly distinguishable from the actual art lessons. Secondly, the methodologies introduced at the site for the art’s appreciation do not help illustrate the works with no aesthetic property. Thirdly, based on Danto's theory of art, I proposed a new theory of art criticism. This methodology can be applied to actual art appreciation and critique education, and is sure to aid students in their appreciation’s classes. The study analyzes the works of art theory and reviews of art educator's appreciation of art education, and reveals the results of the study.
