예술기반 교육연구 방법론에 관한 고찰

본 연구는 교육 연구에서 새로운 흐름으로 나타난 예술기반 교육연구 방법론이 지닌 가능성에 주목하여 그 이론적 배경과 특징을 중심으로 고찰하고 있다. 우선, 사회과학 연구에서 실증주의적 연구 방법의 한계와 예술기반 교육연구가 근거하고 있는 질적 연구의 배경과 특징을 살펴보았다. 둘째, 오늘날 포스트모더니즘 시기의 질적 연구의 변화를 재현의 위기, 성찰적 경향, 참여적 성격의 세 측면에서 검토하면서 예술기반 교육연구가 성립되고 공인되는 시기의 전반적인 흐름을 밝혀 보았다. 셋째, 예술적 접근이 어떠한 예술에 관한 인식에 기반하고 있는지 이해하기 위해 아이스너의 예술관과 포스트모던적 인식을 근간으로 하는 연구자들의 예술에 대한 이해를 조명하였다. 다음으로, 예술기반 연구를 옹호하는 연구 집단들이 주장하고 있는 예술적 접근의 구성요소, 강조점을 살펴보고, 이를 바탕으로 다른 질적 연구와 구분되는 예술적 접근의 특징을 도출했다.
Abstract
The present study, based on the potential of arts-based educational research methodology as an emerging approach in educational research, seeks to examine its theoretical background and features of an arts-based approach. First, it probes into the limitations of empirical research methodology manifested in social sciences research and the background and the features of qualitative research upon which arts-based research is based. Second, it examines the changes of qualitative research during the era of contemporary post-modernism from the three dimensions of the crisis of representation, reflexive tendencies and participatory nature, while throwing light on the general flow of the period during which arts-based educational research was established and recognized. Third, Eisner's viewpoint of art and the understanding of art of researchers who agree with post-modernistic thinking was examined in order to understand the artistic thinking on which the arts-based approach is based. Next, it probes components and points of arts-based approach that some supportive groups maintain, and draw features of arts-based educational research methodology distinct from other qualitative research.
