대중예술의 이미지 재현에 관한 미학적 논의 : 케이팝 춤(K-POP Dance)을 중심으로

초록

본 논문은 대중예술에 관한 미학적 논의를 이미지 재현이라는 쟁점을 통해 시도하였다. 이 중에서도 디지털 기술에 의해 세계적으로 확산되고 있는 케이팝(K-POP)을 대상으로 삼고, 케이팝 춤을 이미지 재현과 연결하여 디지털 시대 이미지의 존재론적 의미를 조망해 보고자 한다. 디지털 기술사회로의 이행은 포스트모던 논의 이후 이미지 재현에 있어서도 큰 변화를 가져왔는데, 특히 기존의 텔레비전, 라디오와 같은 대중매체를 통해 전파되던 대중문화가 디지털 매체로 이행되면서 고급문화에 타자화된 문화로서 대중문화라는 개념을 변화시켜 문화적 제작, 창작의 핵심으로 대두되게 되었다. 따라서 케이팝의 이미지 재현 방식의 미학적 쟁점이 현대 대중예술에 중요한 의미를 부여한다는 것은 새로운 미학적 담론이 요구된다 할 수 있다. 그리고 디지털 기술을 중심으로 변화하는 예술 환경에서 예술은 새로운 예술교육의 유형을 형성하는 원동력이 된다.

Abstract

This paper is an aesthetic discussion of Korean popular mass art. Among several examples, Korean popular music (“K-Pop”) has emerged recently. K-pop dance is analyzed through the philosophical methods of image representation as a prime example of art in the digital age. Informed by postmodern aesthetics debates, the transition to the digital technological society has brought about a great change in image representation. Especially, mass culture once only spread through the existing media such as television, radio, and recorded music has been transformed via the next distribution through digital media. These digital media are embedded in the concepts of popular culture as well. I discuss how Pragmatist aesthetics gives insight for how to understand reproductions of images in K-Pop.
