북한주민의 남한 미디어 수용과 인권의식 변화

Abstract

The influx of outside information including the movies and dramas of South Korea into North Korea itself makes an axis of right to enjoy art among the economic, social and cultural rights and of right to enjoy scientific advancements and their benefits. The North Korean people’s perception of human rights that can be formed and spread through the South Korean media goes against the ruling ideology sought after by the North Korean regime, which makes it an important research topic for predicting the directions of changes in the North Korean society. It can also be connected to the integration of North and South Korean society and the economic development of North Korea in another aspect. That is, the human rights perception of North Korean people can be a perception system to enjoy social, economic and cultural rights including right to work as well as the maturing process of political citizenship after the integration of the North and South Korean regime, as well as the social capability of the unified Korean Peninsula to fulfill the responsibilities. It can also be interpreted as the development capability in the process of economic development in North Korea. The content of human rights perception being formed among North Korean people through the South Korean media and also the characteristics(categories) of audience can serve as major basic data for multi-dimensional approaches including changes to the North Korean society, integration of North and South Korea, and economic and social development of North Korea. Based on the in-depth interviews with North Korean defectors that were exposed to the South Korean media in North Korea, the present study analyzed the content of human rights perception they got to accept through the South Korean media in North Korea and the categories of audience and proposed the limitations and tasks of acceptance of South Korean media.
