Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of job satisfaction on the relationship between care workers’ professional ethics and service quality. A survey was conducted with 440 care workers employed in long-term care facilities located in D City, Chungcheongnam-do, and 433 valid responses were used for the final analysis after excluding insincere cases. Data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and PROCESS macro 4.2, including correlation and mediation analyses. The results of the study are as follows. First, the correlation analysis indicated significant positive relationships among professional ethics, job satisfaction, and service quality. n particular, the highest correlation was found between job satisfaction and service quality, followed by the correlations between professional ethics and service quality, and between professional ethics and job satisfaction. Second, the mediation analysis revealed that professional ethics had a significant direct effect on service quality, while also exerting an indirect effect through the mediation of job satisfaction. These findings suggest that care workers’ professional ethics function as an important pathway that enhances service quality by increasing job satisfaction. This study contributes to the understanding of the structural relationships among professional ethics, job satisfaction, and service quality among care workers, and provides foundational insights that may inform workforce management, education, and ethical competency enhancement strategies aimed at improving the quality of long-term care services.
