이 논문의 목적은 요한묵시록의 중심적 단락인 12;1-15:4를 탈식민주의적 관점에서 해석하는데 있다. 이 단락은 신화적 이야기들과 상징들로 표현되어 있다. 나는 밧모 섬의 요한이 로마의 제국주의를 정당화하는 제국의 담론과 황제예배를 비판하기 위해서 그리고 고난당하는 기독교적 공동체를 격려하기 위해서 신화적 이야기들과 상징들을 반제국적 대항담론으로 사용하였다고 이해한다. 나는 육백육십육이라는 짐승의 수에 대한 기존의 해석을 비판하고, 그 수의 의미를 구약과의 관계에서 새롭게 해석하고자 한다. 나는 또한 이 단락에서 세 번 언급된 예배의 예전적 찬송들의 정치적 차원을 찾고자 한다. 그것은 교회의 예배의 쇄신에 기여할 것이다. 이 논문의 결론에서 나는 신자유주의적 세계화의 시대에 수많은 가난한 자들과 약자들의 생명을 파괴하고 자연을 훼손하는 오늘의 짐승들과 짐승의 우상을 호명하고 비판한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to interpret the textual unit of Rev. 12:1-15:4 from the post-colonial perspective. This textual unit expresses itself with mythical stories and symbols. I understand that John of Patmos used them as anti-imperial counter-discourse in order to criticize the imperial discourse and the imperial cults which legitimates Roman imperialism and to encourage the suffering Christian community. I attempt to interpret the meaning of 666 in the relation to the context of the Old Testament, because it mentions the number twice surprisingly. I also try to find the political dimension of the liturgical hymns of the worships mentioned tree times in this textual unit. It will contribute to the reform of the worship of church. At the conclusion of this paper I am going to name the beast in this present world and to criticize it.
