오늘날 기독교로 하여금 경전을 새롭게 해석하고 교리를 조정할 것을 요구하는 대표적인 외부적 도전은 바로 ‘생태주의’(ecologism)의 확산이다. 생태주의의 도전에 대한 개신교계의 반응의 실태는 각 교단의 공식담론에서 가장 선명하게 드러난다. 본고에서는 생태주의의 도전에 대하여 개신교계가 어떻게 대응하고 있는지를 파악하기 위하여 현대 한국 개신교 교단의 생태 관련 공식 담론들을 검토하고자 한다. 오늘날 상당수의 개신교 연합단체들과 교단들은 새로운 세기의 주제로 생명, 생태, 환경에 대한 관심을 내세우면서 다양한 생태 담론들을 생산하고 있다. 본고에서는 국내 개신교 교단 가운데 생태 담론을 특히 활발하게 생산하고 있는 대한예수교장로회(통합), 한국기독교장로회, 기독교대한감리회를 중심으로 총회회의록, 각종 성명서 등 각 교단에서 대표성을 확보하고 있는 공식 문건들을 통하여 각 교단의 공식 생태담론들을 검토하고자 한다.
Abstract
Today, one of the most important ideological challenge on Christianity is the expansion of ecologism. Ecological perspectives require Protestant Churches to reflect their tradition and to propose their vision which fits into green Christianity. Many theologians and Christians have tried to absorb ecological perspective into theological discourses, searching for green Christianity. In this article, I'll analyse the official documents of Protestant Denominations in Korea to show the present attitudes of each Denomination to the subject of ecology. Especially, I'll deal with three denominations -the Korean Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church of Korea and the Presbyterian Church in the Republic of Korea. By analysing the official documents of Protestant Denominations, I suggest that each denomination shows different perspectives on the ecological matters.
