Abstract
The reality of various family systems is exposed and the problems are revealed through the limitations and damages of the family system in My Love from the Star. The central characters of this work are set as victims of the coexisting family system at the same time, and Do Min-joon is assumed to be a victim of the one-person family system. Therefore it is necessary to understand the setting of this family system and its contradictions in order to deeply understand My Love from the Star and through this, it is necessary to pay attention to the character who transforms from a victim to a female subject. This phenomenon of family system hybridization and the process of change in female subjectivity correspond to the aftermath of compressed modernity. My Love from the Star narratively accepted the coexistence of pre-modern, modern, and post-modern times experienced by various East Asian countries over a 400-year time period, and delved into the aspects of family and women that appeared in this coexistence. As a result, My Love from the Star was able to secure emotional sympathy and popularity not only in Korea but also in many East Asian countries. This is because viewers from countries experiencing the same cultural, temporal, and social changes were able to broadly gain sympathy through My Love from the Star.
