허구적 서사를 활용한 교양교육의 방안 —영화 『더 웨일』을 중심으로—

Abstract

As revealed by the plight of psychoanalysis today, various academic fields are changing to a state where they can no longer assume a modern human image. However, the reality is that a new human image cannot be presented as an ideology. Meanwhile, a ‘new subject’ that denies negativity is being introduced as a premise for academics. This paper is an attempt to explore the current crisis in our education and the possibility of overcoming it by utilizing the educational aspects of fictional narratives. As the number of people who cannot tolerate all discipline and control in education is increasing, the number of people praising education that only praises students based on their individual spontaneity and activity is increasing. However, reality is producing the opposite result. Today, the so-called dialectic of negation, which is learned by colliding and breaking, is no longer possible as a model for education. Ghisali’s education abolished the educational method of dialectics of denial that awakens one’s awareness by encountering reality, but it seems to have failed to present a concrete new image of human beings. Today, individuals adhere to dull norms that cannot be ignored, but are wary of and fear passion that is a deviation from them. While fictional narratives replace individual experiences, they provide at least something that can be said to be common to sustain a community. I presented a specific work as an example to show that the power to think about such negative reality is also possible through fictional narrative. Of course, The Whale is a work that performed a very useful educational function, but as revealed in this paper, fictional narratives are a form invented from the beginning with an educational role of passing down the community’s valuable knowledge to future generations.
