본 논문은 대학생의 학습참여에 영향을 미치는 요인을 규명하는 가운데 디지털 리터러시와 디지털 시민성을 증진시키는 교육의 방향을 살펴보고자 한다. 보다 구체적으로 본 논문은 교양교육 차원에서 학습자 중심교육의 효과성을 제고하고 디지털 시민성과 디지털 리터러시 교육을 진전시키기 위한 예비적 시도로서, 디지털 리터러시가 학습참여에 미치는 영향과 그 과정에서 디지털 시민성의 정의 및 행동영역이 매개 역할을 하는지 살펴보는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 2023년 5월 20일부터 6월 15일까지 인천광역시에 위치한 4년제 I대학에 재학 중인 학생 390명을 대상으로 데이터를 수집하고 SPSS 30.0을 이용하여 기술통계 및 상관분석을 수행하였으며, 매개효과 검증을 위해 PROCESS macro 4.2를 사용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과 디지털 리터러시는 디지털 시민성 정의영역과 행동영역, 학습참여 모두와 유의한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 또한 디지털 시민성 정의 및 행동영역이 디지털 리터러시와 학습참여 간 관계를 부분적으로 매개하는 것으로 나타났으며, 특히 행동영역을 통한 간접효과가 정의영역보다 더 크게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 디지털 시민성의 실천적 행동역량이 학습참여를 증진하는 핵심 요인임을 시사하며, 대학 교양교육에서 디지털 리터러시와 디지털 시민성을 통합적으로 접근하고 실천 역량을 강화하는 교수⋅학습 설계가 필요함을 보여준다.
Abstract
This study aimed to identify factors influencing learning engagement among university students and to explore educational approaches to enhance digital literacy and digital citizenship. As a preliminary attempt to advance learner-centered liberal arts education, this study examined how digital literacy affects learning engagement, and whether the affective and behavioral dimensions of digital citizenship mediate this relationship. Data were collected from 390 students at a four-year university in Incheon, Korea, and analyzed using SPSS 30.0 and PROCESS macro 4.2. The results showed that digital literacy was significantly and positively correlated with the affective and behavioral dimensions of digital citizenship, as well as with learning engagement. Furthermore, the affective and behavioral dimensions of digital citizenship partially mediated this relationship, with the behavioral dimension showing a stronger indirect effect. These findings suggest that the practical competencies of digital citizenship are critical in promoting learning engagement and highlight the need for instructional designs that integrate digital literacy with digital citizenship in liberal arts education.
