대학 교양교육 과정에서의 지역학 수업 사례 연구 —화성지역학을 중심으로—

본 연구의 목적은 대학 교양교육 과정에서 화성지역학 수업을 설계⋅운영한 후 그 사례를 제시하고 분석함으로써 교육적 시사점을 얻는 데에 있다. 화성지역학 수업은 A대학교에서 15주 동안 진행되었으며 수업은 외부 전문가 특강과 현장 답사를 병행하여 진행되었다. 수업에 대한 학생들의 인식변화와 의견을 분석한 결과, 학생들은 수업을 통해 화성 지역에 대한 인식이 긍정적으로 바뀌었고 지역 정체성과 소속감이 형성되었음을 알 수 있었다. 또한 화성지역학을 전공 영역에서 활용하거나 타지역과 비교 분석하는 등 높은 차원의 안목 과 자기 삶에 필요한 미래 역량 개발 효과도 기대할 수 있었다. 매주 진행되는 특강과 현장 답사 등도 학습에 흥미를 높이고 즐거움을 주는 운영 방식임을 알 수 있다. 그러나 개선방안도 요구되었다. 첫째, 수업 목적에 맞게 평가 제도를 유연하게 적용시켜야 한다. 둘째, 수업 내용의 다변화를 위해 지역 내 기관과 기업체, 대학 간의 긴밀한 연계가 필요하다. 셋째, 원활한 지역학 수업 운영을 위해 지자체 차원의 네트워크가 적극 마련되어야 한다.
Abstract
This study aims to gain educational implications by presenting and analyzing the case of designing and operating a Hwaseong Studies course in a College liberal arts education course. The class was held for 15 weeks for students of Hwaseong Studies at A University. The class was a combination of lectures and field trips. The results showed that students were highly satisfied with the course and would recommend the course, and their interest in and awareness of Hwaseong City increased after taking the course. This shows that the students not only acquired knowledge information on local history, culture, and industry, but also developed a sense of attachment and belonging to the local community. However, there were also suggestions for improvement. First, the relative evaluation system should be flexibly applied to suit the purpose of the class. Second, close cooperation with local organizations, companies, and universities is needed to expand the variety of educational contents. Third, administrative support at the local government level should be actively provided for the smooth operation of classes.
