창업기업의 기술사업 추진역량과 경영성과 간의 관계에 대한 실증연구 : 기술개발 집약도의 매개 및 조절효과를 중심으로

본 연구는 기술보증기금이 직접 평가한 1,439개의 창업기업 을 표본으로 기술사업 추진역량이 기술개발 집약도 향상을 통하 여 재무적 성과 및 사업 안정성 등의 경영성과에 미치는 영향에 대하여 구조방정식 모형(SEM)을 활용하여 실증분석을 실시하 였다. 대표자가 기술지식 등의 역량을 잘 갖추고 있을수록, 핵심 경 영팀 간에는 팀워크와 전문화를 통해 체계적으로 운영될수록, 그리고 합리적 투자계획 및 적절한 자금관리가 이루어질수록, 기술개발 인프라를 확충해 나가면서 기업의 재무적 경영성과를 향상시키고 부실화 위험성도 감축해 나가는 것으로 확인되었다. 다만, 창업초기의 R&D 투자 및 인프라 확충 등 비용증가 요 인으로 인하여 기술개발 집약도는 향상되는 반면, 단기적으로 기업의 재무구조 건전성을 악화시키고 부실화 위험성이 높아지 는 부정적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 창업기업의 기술개발 집약도 수준에 따른 조절효과를 살펴보면, 핵심 기술인력 등의 경영팀들이 전문화되어 체계적으 로 운영되는 경우 기술개발 집약도가 높은 기업일수록 기술개발 집약도가 낮은 기업보다 재무구조 건전성은 향상시키고 단기적 부실화 위험성을 경감시키는 효과가 있는 것으로 확인되었다.
Abstract
This study, using Structural Equation Model(SEM), aims to investigate structural-relationship among start-ups’ technological capabilities, R&D intensiveness, financial stability and default risk. The empirical data for this study were based on the technology appraisal results of Korea Technology Finance Corporation(KOTEC) on 1,439 start-ups from 2011 to 2012 and the financial data of the following 2 years of the sample. The results of this study were summarized as follows: start-ups’ three internal factors - namely CEO’s technological capability, management organization’s specialization and the feasibility of the investment plan - were proved to improve R&D intensiveness, financial stability, therefore reducing default risk. On the other hand, the investment on R&D infrastructure and continuous R&D activities impacted on the deterioration of financial stability and default risk in the short run. Additionally, R&D intensiveness as a moderating factor, were proved to accelerate start-ups’ reduction of default risk as well as to improvement of financial stability.
