본 연구는 초고령 사회로 진입한 한국 사회에서 시니어의 디지털 역량 강화를 위해 맞춤형 AI 교육 프로그램을 개발하고 실제 교육 현장에 적용하여 그 효과를 분석하고자 하였다. 경기도 소재 노인복지관 소속 시니어 9명을 대상으로 생성형 AI와 블록형 코딩 도구를 활용한 16차시 교육을 실시하고, 사전·사후 설문을 통한 양적 분석과 면담 및 참여 관찰을 통한 질적 분석을 병행하였다. 그 결과 해당 프로그램은 시니어 학습자들의 AI 및 코딩에 대한 이해도와 인식에 긍정적인 변화를 이끌어냈으며, 교육의 필요성과 유용성에 대한 인식, 학습 성취에 대한 만족감과 자신감 또한 향상되는 경향을 보였다. 특히 기술에 대한 거리감을 좁히고, 향후 디지털 사회에서의 참여 의지를 고취시키는 계기가 되었다는 점에서 교육적 의미가 크다. 본 연구는 시니어 대상 맞춤형 AI 교육의 실효성을 제시하고, 향후 지속 가능한 교육 설계를 위한 기초자료로서 의의가 있다.
Abstract
This study aimed to develop and implement a customized AI education program to enhance digital competence among seniors in South Korea, a country rapidly entering a super-aged society. The program, conducted over 16 sessions at a senior welfare center in Gyeonggi Province, engaged nine senior participants using generative AI and block-based coding tools. A mixed-methods approach was applied, combining pre- and post-surveys with interviews and participant observation. The results indicated positive changes in seniors’ understanding and perception of AI and coding, as well as increased recognition of the value and necessity of such education. Participants showed improved satisfaction, confidence, and a stronger sense of achievement. Notably, the program helped reduce psychological distance from technology and encouraged future engagement in the digital society. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of AI education tailored to older adults and offers practical insights for the development of sustainable and inclusive digital education programs targeting the aging population.
