본 논문은 김정은 국무위원장이 북한 사회에서 ‘인민의 어버이’로 자리매김하는 과정을 문헌분석을 통해 추적하여 그 과정과 특징을 밝히고, 김일성의 ‘어버이수령’ 사례와 비교하여 연속과 변화를 검토하였다. 북한 당국은 오랜 기간에 걸쳐 신중하고 단계적으로 김정은을 ‘인민의 어버이’로 만들어갔다. 선대 수령의 사례를 참조하여 일부 연속성을 가지면서도 현재 북한의 상황에 맞게 선택적으로 수용하고 조정한 것을 확인하였다. 김정은의 ‘인민의 어버이’는 현대적 극장국가 구조를 통해 구축되었다. 김정은 시기 ‘인민의 어버이’는 수령의 이미지를 새롭게 하고, 수령과 인민의 관계를 재구축하며, 인민에게 반응에 영향을 미치는 특별한 역할을 하고 있다.
Abstract
This paper traces the process of Kim Jong-un’s establishment as the ‘Father of the people’ in North Korean society through a literature analysis to reveal the process and characteristics, and examines the continuities and changes compared to the case of Kim Il-sung’s ‘the fatherly Leader’. The North Korean authorities have been carefully and gradually establishing Kim Jong-un as the ‘Father of the people’ over a long period of time. By referring to the examples of previous leaders, it was confirmed that while there was some continuity, it was selectively accepted and adjusted to suit the current situation in North Korea. Kim Jong-un’s ‘Father of the people’ was constructed through a modern theatre-state structure. Under Kim Jong-un, ‘Father of the people’ has a special role to play in renewing the image of the sovereign, rebuilding the relationship between the sovereign and the people, and influencing the people to respond.
