재한 캄보디아 이주노동자의 본국 귀환 준비 경험

본 연구의 목적은 재한 캄보디아 이주노동자들이 한국에서의 취업 허가가 만료된 후 본국으로 귀환할 준비를 어떻게 하는지 이해하는 것이다. 이에 국내 거주 중인 캄보디아 이주노동자인 남녀 성인 5명을 대상으로 질적 사례연구를 활용해서 자료를 분석하였다. 연구 결과로 사례 간 분석에서 12개의 하위 범주를 찾아냈고, 그로부터 4개의 상위 범주를 확인하였다. 이는 ‘태어난 땅에서 다시 일굴 생업의 기틀 갖추기’, ‘이주로 멀어졌던 관계 회복할 의지 다지기’, ‘한국 사회에 길들어져 걱정되는 고향 재적응하기’, ‘재정착 힘들겠지만 주도적으로 미래 설계하기’였다. 이 같은 연구 결과를 기반으로 재한 캄보디아 이주노동자의 귀환 준비 및 본국의 재통합 지원을 위한 사회복지 정책의 개선 방안과 실천 전략 등에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study mainly aims to study how Cambodian migrant workers prepare return plans to their home country once their work permits in South Korea have expired. As part of this study’s qualitative case study methodology and in-depth interviews were conducted with five Cambodian migrant workers, both male and female, residing in South Korea. The study identified twelve subcategories from the research findings, which were further synthesized into four overarching categories through cross-case analysis: ‘Establishing a foundation for rebuilding life in one’s country of origin,’ ‘Strengthening the determination to restore relationships that were significantly impacted by migration,’ ‘Readjusting to the hometown amidst concerns of being influenced by Korean culture,’ ‘Envisioning a future despite the challenges of resettlement.’ Based on the findings of this study, this paper proposes enhancements to social welfare policies and action strategies to facilitate the return of Cambodian migrant workers from Korea and support the effective reintegration of their home country.
