초록
Polymer blending is a technology that physically/chemically mixes two or morepolymer blends to improve light weight, strength, impact resistance, chemical resistance, ozoneresistance, and flame retardancy than conventional single polymers. In this study, the polymercomposites prepared by radiation crosslinking technology with polyurethan (PU) and clay wereperformed to improve the heat resistance of polyethylene (PE). The interfacial adhesion betweenhydrophobic PE and hydrophilic PU was improved due to the addition of a compatibilizing agent, and the clay having a plate-like structure has improved mechanical properties by enhancing thefilling effect. As a result of thermal stability evaluation at 150°C, pure HDPE showed a shrinkageof about 24%, whereas HDPE/PU blend (HEU5R3 0) mixed with PU showed a shrinkage of about5%, resulting in a thermal stability increase of about 5 times. In addition, the heat shrinkage ofthe HDPE/PU blend (HEU5R3100) irradiated with a 100 kGy is less than 2.5%, indicating a sharpincrease in thermal stability.
