초록
Silicone hydrogels are widely used as medical materials such as drug delivery, contactlens due to their excellent mechanical properties and biocompatibility. Poly(acrylic acid) (PAA)hydrogel films have a good bioadhesive property. In this study, silicone and PAA mixtures wereselected to prepare the conductive hydrogel for an electrode pad using radiation process. Thesilicone / PAA hydrogels were characterized using fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR),and their mechanical / electrical properties such as gel content, swelling behaviors, tensilestrength, and conductivity are reported. The mechanical properties of the silicone / PAA hydrogelsincreased when increasing the absorbed dose up to 50 kGy, whereas at the 75 kGy, the mechanicalproperty decreased due to the high crosslinked structure and degradation of molecular chains. Theconductivity of the silicone / PAA hydrog hydrogels was 1.0 mS·cm-1. Therefore, this study confirmedthe possibility of developing the conductive hydrogel for an electrode pad using radiation-basedtechniques.
