초록
Accurate burnup assessment of spent nuclear fuel (SNF) is critical for nuclear material accountancyand non-proliferation measures. This study focuses on establishing the neutron detection efficiency of a 3He detectionsystem, a key tool for the non-destructive assay of SNF. Experiments were conducted using a 252Cf standard neutronsource in a water tank, complemented by detailed MCNP(Monte Carlo N-Particle) simulations that replicated theexperimental geometry. The measured detection rates showed good agreement and consistent proportionality withthe MCNP-calculated reaction rates across various source–detector distances. Based on this comparative analysis, thedetection efficiency of the 3He system was estimated to be approximately 60%. The established detection efficiencyimproves the reliability of the neutron measurement system and significantly contributes to the characterization andsafety verification required for the dry-storage transfer of domestic SNF.
