본 논문에서는 서정주의 시에 나타나는 갈등의 표출 양상을 살펴봄으로써 화자의 심리적 갈등과 시 형태의 상관성을 연구하는 데 목표를 둔다. 화자의 심리적 갈등은 내용에서도 드러나지만 시의 형태적 측면을 통해서도 드러난다. 그런데도 그 동안은 서정주 시의 내용적 측면을 연구하는 데만 치중되어 왔다. 정작 서정주가 한국현대시사에서 독보적인 위치를 차지하고 있다면 그리고 그의 시가 한국적인 요소와 서구적인 요소를 절묘하게 결합하여 한국적 모더니티를 구체적으로 구현하였다면 그 특징이 시의 형태적 측면에서는 어떠한 방식으로 드러나고 있는지를 살펴야 할 것이다. 그래야만 그간의 서정주에 대한 평가가 온당하게 자리잡을 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 서정주가 전통적인 시가 형식을 어떻게 인식하고 비판하고 있는가, 전통적인 시 형태에서 벗어나는 방식은 어떠한가를 살피면서 시 형태에 대한 서정주의 비판과 지양의 방식이 시의 내용과 맺는 상관성을 고찰할 것이다. 이 작업은 궁극적으로 서정주의 시를 구성하는 핵심적인 내용과 그 변모과정이 결국은 시형태의 변모 과정과 일치하고 있다는 점을 밝히는 데 그 목적이 있다.
Abstract
In this dissertation, the research has been done by looking at the way Seo Jung Joo expresses complications in his poems and throu- gh that, we will look in to the psychological complications of the poet and its relations to the form of the poem. In the past, research was focused only on the content view of Seo Jung Joo’s poems. If Seo Jung Joo stands out to be the unchallenged standard of the history of Korean modern poem, and if his poems bring together Korean elements and western elements to create Korean modernity in his poems, then we will have to find out how it is expressed in formation. That is the only way assessment about Seo Jung Joo can be reasonable. Therefore, in this dissertation, we will look in to how Seo Jung Joo understands the traditional poetry and the way he criticizes it, how he transforms from the traditional form of poems, and also look into the relation to Seo Jung Joo’s criticism about the form of poem’s and the relations to the way the contents of the poems relate to the way he sublated to it. This work will clarify the main con- tents that form the lyrics and how the changing process harmonizes with the way the form of the poem changes.
