국내 한류 관련 학과 교과목 운영 사례 연구

한국 문화 콘텐츠의 글로벌 확산을 의미하는 한류는 이제 전 세계에서 중요한 문화 현상으로 자리잡고 있다. 이에 국내 주요대학들은 한류 관련 학과를 설립하여 대학의 성장 및 한류의 확산에 기여하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 이러한 배경에서 본 연구는국내 주요 한류 관련학과의 교과목 운영 사례를 분석하여 시사점을 도출하고 향후 발전 방향을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위하여 본 연구는 한류 관련학과를 운영하고 있는 국내 모든 대학의 설립 목적, 유형, 교과목, 교원 및 학생 등의 중요 정보를 조사하였으며, 시사점 도출 및 향후 제언을 위한 전문가 인터뷰를 실시하였다. 조사를 통해 밝혀낸 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전체적으로 한류 관련 과목을 운영중인 9개의 대학은 소재지-개설 단위-모집대상에 따라 두 가지 조합을 가지고 있었다. 지방 소재-학부-외국인 학생 조합과 수도권 소재-대학원-내국인 학생 조합으로 구분되었다. 둘째, 전문가 인터뷰에서 도출한 차별화, 모호성, 실무 연계성 차원에서 현재 9개 대학이 가지고 있는 한류 관련 과목은 대체적으로 차별화가 부족하며 모호성이높으며 실무 연계도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 지방에 위치한 대학들의 경우 그 정도가 더욱 두드러졌다. 본 연구의 결과는한류 관련 학과 설립을 모색하고 있는 대학에 중요한 시사점을 제공한다.
Abstract
Hallyu, which signifies the global spread of Korean cultural content, has become an important cultural phenomenon worldwide. In response, major universities in South Korea are actively establishing departments related to Hallyu to contribute to the growth of their institutions and disseminate Korean culture. Against this background, this study aims to analyze the curriculum operation cases of major Hallyu-related departments in domestic universities to derive implications and suggest future development directions. To achieve this, the study investigates important information such as the establishment purposes, types, course offerings, faculty, and students of all South Korean universities operating the Hallyu-related departments, and supplementary information was gathered through expert interviews. The findings are as follows: First, among the nine universities having Hallyu-related courses, there were two combinations based on their location, academic unit, and target student. They were categorized into the combination of a regional university-undergraduate program-international students and the combination of a metropolitan university-graduate program-domestic student combination. Second, from the expert interviews, it was found that the Hallyu-related courses offered by the current nine universities generally lack differentiation, have a high degree of ambiguity, and show low practical relevance. This was especially pronounced for universities located in regional areas. The results of this study provide valuable insights for universities that are considering the establishment of Hallyu-related departments.
