여대생의 여드름 인식이 삶의 질과 자아존중감에 미치는 영향

본 연구에서 삶의 질과 자아존중감이 여대생의 여드름 인식 및 상태에 따라 어떠한 영향을 받는지에 대해 도출된 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 우선 각 변수 간 상관관계에서 여드름 인식의 하위요인별 여드름 관리인식은 삶의 질의 하위요인별 증상, 기능, 감정과 유의미한 부(-)의 관계를 보였으며 여드름 악화인식은 Fx(기능)과 유의미한 부(-)의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 여드름 인식의 하위요인별 여드름 관리인식은 자아존중감의 하위요인별 자기존중, 타인과의 관계, 지도력과 인기, 자기주장과 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고, 여드름 악화인식은 자아존중감의 하위요인별 타인과의 관계, 지도력과 인기, 자기주장과 유의미한 정(+)의 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이에 삶의 질의 기능은 자아존중감의 자기존중, 타인과의 관계, 지도력과 인기, 자기주장과 유의미한 부(-)의 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났고 증상, 감정은 자아존중감의 자기존중, 타인과의 관계, 자기주장과 유의미한 부(-)의 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 여드름에 대해 정확히 인식하고 대처하는 여대생일수록 삶의 질에서 감정이나 증상 기능 손상과 관련 된 하위요인들의 지수들이 낮아졌으며, 반대로 자아 존중감의 경우 자아존중이나 타인과의 관계, 자기주장과 지도력 및 인기에서 함께 상승하는 관계성을 보인 것으로 분석되며 외모 관심도가 높은 여대생들의 여드름 관리는 삶의 질과 자아 존중감을 강화할 수 있는 중요한 분야로 이에 맞는 정보 및 올바른 교육 프로그램의 제안으로 대학 생활 적응 및 학업의 제고에도 도움을 주리라 생각된다. 본 연구는 여대생을 대상자로 연구하였으나 추후 남학생들을 대상자로 하는 연구를 통해 최근 들어 외모관심도가 높아진 남학생 그룹과의 차이점을 분석해 보는 등, 대상자의 확대를 통한 지속적 연구가 필요하다.
Abstract
Acne, though not life-threatening, is frequently developed on exposed body parts such as face. Acne imparts significant effects such as the feeling of intimidation on patients’ mental status, interpersonal relationships and daily life. For this reason, the current study aimed to investigate the relationship of female college students’ acne recognition with their quality of living (QOL) and self-esteem. In this study, 500 female students from 5 colleges in the Gyeonggi and Chungcheong regions of South Korea participated. A total of 468 sets were utilized for final analysis. The collected data were statistically processed using SPSS v. 21.0 statistical package program. For the validity test of the measurement tool, the exploratory factor analysis was run. For reliability validation, Cronbach's α was calculated. To investigate correlation between each variable, correlation analysis was employed. Multiple regression analysis was performed to test the hypotheses. As a result of analyzing correlation between variables, acne care recognition in terms of subfactor of acne recognition, was found to show significant negative (-) correlations with the QOL subfactors of Sx (symptom), Fx (function) and, Ex (emotion) (p<0.001). Acne aggravation recognition showed a significant negative (-) correlation with Fx (function) (p<0.05). Moreover, in terms of acne recognition subfactors, acne care recognition displayed significant positive (+) correlations with the self-esteem subfactors of selfrespect, relationship with others, leadership and popularity, and self-assertion (p<0.05), Acne aggravation recognition showed significant positive (+) correlation with the self-esteem subfactors of relationship with others, leadership and popularity, and self-assertion (p<0.001). With respect to QOL subfactors, Fx (function) demonstrated significant negative (-) correlations with the self-esteem subfactors of self-respect, relationship with others, leadership and popularity, and self-assertion (p<0.001). Sx (symptom), and Ex (emotion) showed statistically significant negative (-) correlations with the self-esteem subfactors of self-respect, relationship with others, and self-assertion (p<0.001). Consequentially, it was found that the more accurately the female college students recognized and responded to their acne, lower were the indexes of their emotional or symptomatic function related subfactors. Self-esteem, on the contrary, showed relatedness as it increased together with the increase in self-respect, relationship with others, selfassertion, and leadership and popularity.
