The aim of this study was to assess the antioxidative efficacies of ethanolic and methanolic extracts from Ribes fasciculatum (RFEE and RFME, respectively) and Calicarpa japonica (CJEE and CJME, respectively) in a cellfree system. Respective total polyphenol contents of RFEE, RFME, CJEE, and CJME were 17.4, 12.3, 9.5, and 6.9 tannic acid equivalents (TAE) mg/g, and respective total flavonoid contents were 0.39, 0.38, 0.42, and 0.45 quercetin equivalents (QE) mg/g. Respective SC50 values of RFEE, RFME, CJEE, and CJME for DPPH radical were 65.2, 66.8, 194.4, and 212.9 μg/mL, and respective SC50 values for ABTS+ radical were 99.6, 126.5, 255.8, and 442.6 μg/mL. Respective ferric reducing antioxidant powers of RFEE, RFME, CJEE, and CJME were 31.3, 19.7, 27.3, and 29.3 μM/g at a concentration of 1000 μg/mL. Thus, among the tested extracts, the highest total polyphenol content and electron-donating activities were detected in RFEE
