During adolescence, interest in physical appearance is high. While disabled students are equally as interested in their appearance as students in the general population during this period, it is also a time when career exploration becomes necessary. This study investigated the behaviors of appearance management, self-esteem, and the beauty education needs of high school students with visual and hearing impairments. To provide basic data for establishing a beauty program for disabled youth, this study was conducted with the cooperation of high school teachers, targeting students who gave consent to the survey. The final analysis was conducted using the responses of 52 visually impaired students and 55 hearing impaired students. The results of this study showed that disabled youths have the same requirement for behaviors for appearance management as other youths. Furthermore, it was found that behaviors for appearance management can have a positive effect on self-esteem, and that disable students have a need for beauty education for exploration of career pathways. By field, skin care and hair beauty were recognized as having relatively higher appearance maintenance and development behaviors than makeup beauty or nail beauty. Moreover, the need for beauty education was also high, support for beauty vocational education is in demand by students, and the creation of an employment pathway curriculum is necessary.
