초록
In this study, the microstructural characteristics of the body and tip of a 1p (piece) needle used in performance of tattoo procedures were observed using a scanning electron microscope, and analysis of the needle's constituent elements was performed using an energy dispersive spectrometer. Using light microscopy and low-magnification scanning electron microscopy, the 1p needle had a smooth body surface and a sharply pointed tip. When observed under a high magnification scanning electron microscope, the diameter of the sharp tip of the needle was 1.92 ㎛. Scratches of various sizes were observed on the surface of the needle body. The length of the relatively large grooves on the surface of the needle body was 5-10 ㎛. Other than these scratches, the surface of the needle was relatively clean with no attachment of foreign substances or contaminants. The needle is made of steel material containing iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), and silicon (Si). No needles with defective tips or malformed needle bodies were observed.
