Abstract

The purpose of our study is to analyze the mediating effect of job embeddedness on the relationship between job demands and the turnover intentions among hair beauty service workers. A self-administered survey was conducted with 260 workers in the metropolitan area from February 5 to February 28, 2025. In the final analysis, 258 valid responses were used. Data were analyzed for frequency, factor, and reliability. A three-step mediated multiple regression was performed using SPSS Ver. 26.0 (IBM, USA). The results of our study demonstrate that job demands positively influence turnover intentions and negatively affect job embeddedness. Furthermore, job embeddedness partially mediated the relationship between job demands and turnover intentions—high job demands lowered job embeddedness that, in turn, increased turnover intentions. These findings indicate that job embeddedness serves as a psychological buffer against the effects of excessive job demands. Our study provides foundational data to develop organizational strategies to reduce turnover intentions. The study also highlights the importance of job embeddedness to build a culture that retains skilled hair beauty professionals.
