가래나무 (Juglans mandshurica) 열매 추출물의 항산화 및 보습 효능

Abstract

Our study aimed to evaluate the antioxidant and moisturizing properties of water and 70% ethanol extracts of Juglans mandshurica fruit. Although various parts of the species have been extensively analyzed for their pharmacological activities, there is limited research that focuses on those of the fruit. To assess its functional potential, we measured the total polyphenol content and assessed the antioxidant capacity using electron donating ability in the 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) radical scavenging activity and the ferric reducing antioxidant power assay. Both extracts exhibit significant antioxidant effects. In the cell viability analysis results, both extracts showed cell viability of more than 90% at a concentration of 100 μg/mL. We evaluated the moisturizing ability of the extracts by quantitating hyaluronic acid (HA) with an ELISA assay to reveal both extracts promoted HA synthesis compared to that of the untreated group. The results of our study confirms that J. mandshurica fruit extracts have antioxidant and moisturizing effects, which suggest its potential as a natural, cosmetic material.
