초록
This study aims to examine the current status and major issues of broadband Internet in Cambodia and draw implications for broadband utilization and spread. In the case of the Internet, improving access to information and technology is contributing to the global reach of the Sustainable Development Goals and efficiently achieving various problems to achieve the common goals of humanity. More specifically, the Internet has been recognized as a mechanism for playing an essential role in economic development. The impact of ICT as a general purpose has a spillover effect or externality rather than a direct contribution to GDP growth. It is known to create a more significant impact in terms of externalities. The World Bank (2018) states that the Internet plays an essential role in promoting economic growth, improving productivity, and reducing poverty. Therefore, the Internet is critical for economic and social development in developing countries. In Cambodia, the social ripple effect of broadband Internet use is shallow. Therefore, to expand the social ripple effect of broadband, it is necessary to focus on increasing individuals, businesses, and governments based on more significant broadband connections.
