Stress and Satisfaction of Native English Speaking Teachers in Korea

앞으로 영어 의사소통 능력 향상에 대한 필요성은 점점 늘어날 것이며, 이에, 원어민 영어교사의 활용 영어수업이 더욱 활발해질 것으로 예상된다. 이를 위해 고려해야 할 것은 원어민 영어교사를 활용한 수업의 질을 어떻게 향상시키는지가 중요하다. 이에, 본 연구는 원어민 영어교사의 교직 스트레스와 교직 만족도에 초점을 맞추어 기존의 연구를 통해 제시된 원어민 영어교사의 교직 스트레스와 만족도를 살펴보고, 이에 대한 의의를 논의해 보았다. 원어민 영어교사가 직무와 관련하여 겪고 있는 문제에 대해 의견을 수집해 본 결과 근무시간과 직무에 대한 정보제공, 계약, 병가, 불확실한 재임용, 통제, 한국 교사와의 의사소통 등의 문제에 직면한 것으로 조사되었다. 이러한 문제점에 대한 적절한 대안 마련은 원어민 영어교사의 교직 스트레스와 교직 만족도에 영향을 주며 나아가 원어민 영어교사 활용 영어수업의 효율성을 제고할 수 있을 것이다. 본 연구를 통해 원어민 영어교사 활용 제도의 질적 향상에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.
