초록

Lawrence’s works are usually recognized obscene and vulgar because he frankly and openly expounds the sexual intercourse in his most works. But he is a writer who opposes the harmful and improper effects and influences of modern industrial society. Lawrence tries to express materialism and intellectualism and mammonism spreaded in the modern society through Clifford. And the writer finds fault with shortcomings and corrupt routines of mechanized society through Mellors. Lawrence insists both spiritual values and blood consciousness should be worshiped and regarded through Clifford and Mellors. Connie, who was satisfied with the mental and passive life at first, gradually realizes her free will and retains the consciousness of life respect through experiencing coition with Mellors. Connie chooses and follows her natural instinct and physical desire and her free will after abandoning her good family’s honor and glory and money. And then Connie hopes to resurrect the respect for man’s life and activate the viability. Accordingly, Lawrence wants to harmonize and balance between mind and body, as well as blood consciousness and mentality. And he tells us the activation of life force is the cornerstone of continuing and flourishing the world and human beings.
