The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of small group cooperative learning on various aspects of English learning attitudes and the listening proficiency of Korean university students. Also, this study is to investigate whether there are differences in small-group cooperative learning between high proficiency and low proficiency English students. Forty-six university students participated in this study. The participants completed an English learning attitude questionnaire and a small group cooperation activity questionnaire. Two questionnaires (pre-and post-) were conducted in order to analyze the effects of the experimental treatment regarding the students' interests, self-confidence, and participation in small-group cooperative learning. They also took a listening test as a measurement of their English listening proficiency. The results of the study are as follows: (1) High proficiency and low proficiency English students showed significant improvement in English listening skills. (2) low proficiency English students exhibited a significant improvement in interests, self-confidence, and participation in listening. Thus, teachers should encourage students to participate in small group cooperative activities.
