초록
The purpose of this study has been to investigate a complex systems approach to language development argued by Larsen-Freeman and Cameron (2008) along with its pedagogical implications to see which approach is on the right track, as compared with Chomsky’s computational system, for the teachers & researchers working in communicative language teaching approach. First, we studied the complex systems approach to L1 and L2 development. Secondly, we studied its applicability to English classroom by offering an example of storytelling task in van Lier’s ecological approach. Finally, the complex systems approach presented was critically reviewed about its theoretical issues on language learning.
Abstract
The purpose of this study has been to investigate a complex systems approach to language development argued by Larsen-Freeman and Cameron (2008) along with its pedagogical implications to see which approach is on the right track, as compared with Chomsky’s computational system, for the teachers & researchers working in communicative language teaching approach. First, we studied the complex systems approach to L1 and L2 development. Secondly, we studied its applicability to English classroom by offering an example of storytelling task in van Lier’s ecological approach. Finally, the complex systems approach presented was critically reviewed about its theoretical issues on language learning.
