본 연구는 지역아동센터 서비스가 이용 아동의 학업열의에 미치는 영향과 센터 교사지지에 따른 아동의 자아존중감의 조절된 매개효과를 검증하려는 목적으로 수행되었다. 본 연구는 이러한 연구 목적을 위해 지역아동센터 아동패널조사의 원자료와 PROCESS Macro 방법을 활용하여 직접과 매개, 및 조절된 매개효과를 분석하였다. 분석의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 지역아동센터 서비스는 이용 아동의 학업열의에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 지역아동센터 서비스가 이용 아동의 학업열의에 미치는 영향은 자아존중감에 의해 부분 매개되었다. 이는 지역아동센터 서비스의 수준이 이용 아동의 자아존중감의 수준을 높이고, 이어서 학업열의의 수준을 높였음을 보여준다. 셋째, 지역아동센터 교사지지는 센터 서비스가 이용 아동의 학업열의에 미치는 직접적인 영향과 자아존중감을 통한 매개효과 모두를 조절하였다. 구체적으로 지역아동센터 서비스가 학업열의에 미치는 영향은 교사지지 수준이 높아질수록 커졌다. 마찬가지로 자아존중감의 매개효과 역시 교사지지 수준이 높아질수록 크게 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 지역아동센터 이용 아동의 학업열의를 향상시키기 위해 센터 서비스를 내실화하고 이용 아동의 자아존중감을 강화하는 방안을 논의하였다. 더해서 지역아동센터 서비스의 긍정적 영향을 강화하기 위해 센터 교사지지를 높이는 개입 방안을 제안하였다.
Abstract
This study verifies the influence of community child center services on children’s academic engagement, focusing on the moderated mediating effect of children’s self-esteem by center teachers’ support. For the purpose, using raw data from the Child Panel Survey of Community Child Centers and the PROCESS macro method, this study analyzed direct, mediating, and moderated mediating effects. The results of the analysis are as follows. First, community child center services had a positive and significant total effect on children’s academic engagement. Second, the self-esteem of children partially mediated the influence of community child center services on academic engagement. This means that the levels of center services increased the levels of self-esteem, which in turn increased the levels of academic engagement. Third, center teachers’ support moderated both the total effect of center services on academic engagement and the mediating effect of self-esteem. Specifically, both the total and mediating effects became larger when the level of teachers’ support increased. Based on the findings of this study, in order to improve the academic engagement of children using community child centers, strategies to enhance center services and strengthen their self-esteem were discussed. In addition, to strengthen the positive influence of center services, strategies to increase center teachers’ support were also discussed.
