본 논문은 ‘힙불교’라는 현대적 흐름 속에서 여성 재가불자들의 새로운 역할과 리더십을 제안한 것이다. 이에 여성 재가불자들의 8가지 역할과 5가지 리더십을 제안하였다. 먼저 8가지 내용은 ‘디지털 시대에 새로운 기술과 플랫폼 활용 강화, 평화와 화합의 촉진자, 지역 사회와의 연계를 통한 커뮤니티 구축, 마음챙김과 명상 확산, 교육자로서의 역할 수행, 문화예술을 통한 불교가치 강화, 글로벌 네트워크를 통한 국제적 교류, 정책 제안 및 사회참여를 통한 제도적 변화추구’를 말하는 것으로, 여성 재가불자들의 새로운 역할을 강조하였다. 이에 5가지 리더십으로, 첫째 창의적 소통 리더십을 제안하였다. 디지털 기술과 현대 미디어를 활용하여 불교 가르침을 대중에게 쉽게 전달하는 역할을 하는 것을 말한다. 이런 창의적인 소통 방식은 젊은 세대가 불교를 더 친숙하게 느끼도록 돕고, 불교의 가르침을 현대 사회의 문제 해결에 맞춰 재구성하는 데 기여한다. 둘째 포용적 리더십이다. 불교의 자비와 평등의 가치를 현대적 시각에서 재구성하여 다양한 사람들을 포용하는 역할을 말한다. 현대 사회의 다양한 문제와 이슈를 해결하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 셋째 커뮤니티 기반 리더십은 지역 사회와의 긴밀한 연결을 통해 공동체 문제 해결과 발전을 이끄는 역할을 한다. 이러한 활동은 지역 공동체 내에서 불교의 신뢰를 형성하고, 공동체와의 연대를 강화하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다. 넷째 심리적 및 정신적 치유 리더십은 현대인의 스트레스와 불안을 줄이고, 정신 건강 문제를 해결하는 데 초점을 맞춘다. 이러한 프로그램은 개인의 내적 안정을 지원하며, 공동체 전반에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다. 다섯째, 현대적 교육 리더십은 전통적인 불교 철학과 가르침을 현대적 맥락에 맞게 재해석하여 대중에게 효과적으로 전달하기 위한 것이다. 이 논문은 힙불교 시대에 여성 재가불자의 현대적 역할과 리더십에 대한 재고가 필요함을 확인하고, 이를 위한 대안을 제안하며, 불교가 지속 가능한 종교로 자리매김할 수 있는 기반 마련에 기여할 수 있다는 점에서 시사성이 있다.
Abstract
This paper proposes a new role and leadership of lay Buddhist women in the modern trend of ‘Hip Buddhism’. Therefore, he proposed eight roles and five leadership styles for lay women. The first eight points emphasized the new role of lay Buddhists by saying, "Strengthening the use of new technologies and platforms in the digital age, promoting peace and harmony, building communities through connection with local communities, spreading mindfulness and meditation, fulfilling the role of educators, strengthening Buddhist values through culture and arts, international exchange through global networks, and pursuing institutional change through policy proposals and social participation." Therefore, we proposed five types of leadership, first, creative communication leadership. It refers to the role of using digital technology and modern media to easily convey Buddhist teachings to the public. This creative way of communicating helps the younger generation feel more familiar with Buddhism and contributes to restructuring Buddhist teachings to meet the problems of modern society. Second, inclusive leadership. It refers to the role of embracing diverse people by reconstructing the values of compassion and equality in Buddhism from a modern perspective. It plays an important role in solving various problems and issues in modern society. Third, community-based leadership plays a role in solving community problems and leading development through close connection with the local community. These activities play an important role in building trust in Buddhism within local communities and strengthening solidarity with them. Fourth, psychological and spiritual healing leadership focuses on reducing stress and anxiety and addressing mental health issues. These programs support the inner stability of individuals and have a positive impact on the community as a whole. Fifth, modern educational leadership is intended to reinterpret traditional Buddhist philosophies and teachings in a contemporary context and effectively convey them to the public. This paper confirms the need to reconsider the modern role and leadership of lay Buddhist women in the era of hip Buddhism, proposes alternatives for this, and lays the foundation for Buddhism to establish itself as a sustainable religion.
