Abstract
Contrary to the trend that modern practice is considered an act for happiness, ancient Korean Buddhism focuses on the archetype of cleanliness and enlightenment. We now encounter various methods and forms of practice. Modern Korean Buddhism experiences another popularization of practice.By connecting science and Buddhism, we try to find satisfaction and justification that are different from traditional practice. What is the true practice of Korean Buddhism? If you give comfort and happiness to the hearts of modern people and make them feel satisfied, has that purpose been achieved? Is the equation that practice is happiness correct? Material and visible happiness was not mentioned in the practice spirit of ancient Korean Buddhism. Happiness does not exist as the ultimate purpose in the boundaries of practice. I would like to carefully put the brakes on the inner side of modern people who are trying to embody the mystical spirit of practice in science, material, and visual systems. This reason will be an opportunity to examine how it affects the identity of Korean Buddhism practice in the future. In addition, I would like to go back to the beginning and discuss the identity of Korean Buddhism's practice by finding out what the spirit of Korean Buddhism's practice was like in Jinul's 「Sushimgyeol」. Despite the fact that the spirit of the sudden awakening-gradual cultivation mentioned in Jinul's "Susimgyeol" remains the same, we tend to tailor it to our thoughts rather than trying to understand it because it is difficult. For happy practice, we ask ourselves again whether we are damaging the original form according to our understanding and thoughts. Therefore, we would like to focus on the plateau of the sudden awakening-gradual cultivation discussed in Jinul's 「Su-Shim-Gyeol」.The sudden awakening-gradual cultivation is the act of a humble and simple-minded structuralist. This discussion sets the sudden awakening-gradual cultivation of Jinul's " Susimgyeol" as the cornerstone of the spirit of Korean Buddhism practice, and seeks to review the meaning of Jinul in detail in order to re-establish the principle and foundation of practice. Jinul's sudden awakening-gradual cultivation(頓悟漸修) is simple. The sudden awakening(頓悟) is a view of one's nature, and this character has no anguish. No anguish's wisdom character is inherently well-deserved, so it is not as different as the tip of the hair from all Buddhas. If a newborn baby comes out of his mother's womb and has a human image itself, there is already a realization of truth with an image, and the sudden awakening is similar to the birth of an conceived child, like the first process of awakening. The gradual cultivation(漸修) are difficult to remove suddenly the long-cherished moisture, even though they realize that their original character is not different from that of Buddha. Therefore, it is like relying on enlightenment to practice and gradually learn to achieve(功), and to cultivate the qualities of an adult for a long time. Jinul's 'system of the sudden awakening-gradual cultivation' focuses on 'not a methodical but essential', so I want to find the identity of Korean Buddhism practice here.
