초록
Historically, racism as it is understood in South Africa or in parts of the Southern United States has not existed in Latin America. The absence or at least the existence to a lesser degree of this type of tension is due to mestizaje ideology. But this is not to say that there do not exist racism like prejudice and socioeconomic discrimination against indigenous peoples and blacks. This article tries to prove that, despite having been hidden for decades behind the myth of mestizaje, anti-indigenous and anti-blacks racism in Latin America becomes a definite phenomenon with an enormous social importance.
Abstract
Historically, racism as it is understood in South Africa or in parts of the Southern United States has not existed in Latin America. The absence or at least the existence to a lesser degree of this type of tension is due to mestizaje ideology. But this is not to say that there do not exist racism like prejudice and socioeconomic discrimination against indigenous peoples and blacks. This article tries to prove that, despite having been hidden for decades behind the myth of mestizaje, anti-indigenous and anti-blacks racism in Latin America becomes a definite phenomenon with an enormous social importance.
