문화예술교육의 사회적 기능과 방향을 위한 탐색적 연구: 다원주의적 사회정의이론을 중심으로

초록

이 논문은 문화예술교육과 사회정의의 관계를 이론적으로 고찰하고, 문화예술교육의 사회적 기능이 사회정의 구현을 위해 어떻게 그리고 왜 가능한가를 시론적으로 탐색한 연구이다. 본 연구의 중심질문은 ‘문화예술교육의 사회적 기능과 가능성은 사회정의이론을 통해 어떻게 설명되고 구조화 될 수 있는가?’이다. 이를 위해 사회정의이론의 거시담론을 구성하는 지배주의적 이론(hegemonic theory), 회의주의적 이론(skeptical theory), 다원주의적 이론(pluralistic theory)을 고찰하고, 문화예술교육의 논리적 당위성을 구축하는데 가장 유용하다고 판단되는 다원주의적 사회정의이론과 문화예술교육에 대한 주요담론들을 연결하여 주요 공통점을 분석하였다. 마지막으로 이러한 논의가 현 문화예술교육정책의 방향과 지향점을 설정하는데 있어 중요한 이유와 의의를 제시하고자 한다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the interrelated relations between the social roles of arts & cultural education and the theoretical notions of social justice. The research question is; how can the social roles and possibilities of arts & cultural education be translated into social justice theories and be structurally explained? In order to answer this question, three major theoretical discourses in social justice theories were applied: hegemonic theory, skeptical theory, and pluralistic theory in social justice. The paper argues that pluralistic theory provides the most adoptable perspective among the threes for constructing the logical justification of arts & cultural education. For closing, some possible directions and visions of arts & cultural education are shared within the social justice frame for its rationales and contributions.
