서양 문명은 시각 중심주의에 기초를 두고 있다. 현대적 주체의 특징 또한 시각 중심의적 사유 틀 속에서 이해될 수 있으며 현대사회에서 이미지로의 선회는 급격하게 일어나고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 전제에서 출발하여 모던적 사유의 특징을 시선, 원근법, 시각 중심주의라는 키워드를 통해 파악하고자 한다. 본 논문의 첫 번째 부분은 서양적 사유의 시각 중심주의적 기원을 다루며, 두 번째 부분은 데카르트적 원근법주의를 현대적 시선의 등장이라는 측면에서 다룬다. 마지막 부분에서는 데카르트적 원근법주의와 현대 도시의 시각적 풍경 사이의 관계를 다루었다.
Abstract
The Western civilisation rests on the foundation of ocularcentrism, which can be comprehended within the boundaries of the traits of modern subject or framework of ocularcentric cogitation. The contemporary society where we are dwelling reflects rapid pictorial turn, and ocularcentrism is quickly rising as a critical concept for understanding this modern society. This study starts from this presupposition, and endeavours to examine the way of modern thinking through gaze, perspective, and ocularcentrism.
