이 연구에서는 주민들의 자율방범대, 시민경찰학교, 방범간담회 등 주민의 경찰활동 참여경험이 경찰에 대한 만족도를 개선하는지 실증적으로 분석하고자 한다. 이를 위해 주민들의 경찰활동 참여경험이 설제로 얼마나 되는지와 참여경험에 따른 접근성, 가시성, 신속 대응성, 지역사회 경찰활동 등 경찰에 대한 만족도에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 분석하였다. 서울, 부산, 대구, 광주, 대전, 인천, 울산, 경기도, 강원도, 충청북도, 충청남도, 경상북도, 경상남도, 전라북도, 전라남도 등 15개광역자치단체에서 자기보고식 설문조사를 실시하였다. 3,620부를 배포하여 3,411부를 회수하였으며, 이 중 응답이 불성실하거나 일관성이 없다고 판단되는 설문지를 분석대상에서 제외하고 최종적으로 3,349부를 통계분석에 이용하였다. 분석한 결과를 종합하면, 경찰활동 참여경험은 경찰관에게 주민이 요구하는 민원서비스 접근에 대한 용이성인 접근성에는 긍정적인 영향을 미친다. 하지만 시민경찰학교 참여경험은 거주지역에서 경찰순찰활동이 관찰되는 인식인 가시성에는 부정적인 영향을 미친다. 기타 자발적인 경찰활동 참여경험은 접근성, 가시성, 신속대응성, 지역사회 경찰활동 등 모든 경찰에 대한 만족도에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다.
Abstract
This study examines if police activity participation such as neighbourhood watch, citizen police academy and crime prevention conferences improves understanding and cooperation with police. Self-report surveys were conducted in all provinces in South Korea with the exception of Jeju province. Of the 3,620 surveys distributed in 15 provinces, 3,411 surveys were collected. After omitting surveys that had inconsistent or inappropriate responses, 3,349 surveys were used for analysis. According to analysis, experience of participation has possitive effect on accessibility of police service. However, participation in police academy has negative effect on police patrol visibility in residential communities. Other experience of participation effects have positive effects on satisfaction towards all police activities such as accessability, visibility, response speed.
