동물 연구(Animal Studies) 시대에서 기독교 신학의 길 찾기

초록

동물들은 인간의 삶과 인류의 생존에 밀접하게 연관되어 있음이 밝혀지면서 최근에 동물 연구(Animal Studies)라는 학제적 분야가 형성되어 과학과 철학 분야뿐 아니라 문학, 역사학, 사회학, 심리학, 지리학, 윤리학, 여성학 등의 다양한 학문들이 각 학문의 관점으로 인간과 동물의 관계를 연구하고 있다. 이러한 새로운 학계의 흐름이 신학을 위한 기초 연구가 될 수 있다고 판단하고 본 논문은 동물 연구 분야들을 대략적으로 소개하고 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 다양한 분야의 동물 연구들이 기독교신학에서 어떻게 활용될 수 있는지 그 가능성을 탐구하고 발전적 방안들을 제안한다. 특별히, 본 논문은 동물을 포함할 뿐만 아니라 존중하는일에 기여할 수 있는 방식으로 창조론, 기독론, 구원론을 구성할 수 있는데 필요한 기초적인 신학적 논의들을 제시하였다. 동물은 하나님께서창조하신 소중한 피조물이며, 성육신은 동물을 비롯한 만물을 포함하는사건이고, 동물 또한 종말론적 하나님 나라에 함께 거할 것이다.

Abstract

An interdisciplinary called ‘Animal Studies’ was formed after animals have a close relationship with life and survival of humankind and then many kinds of areas such as science, philosophy, literature, history, sociology, psychology, geography, ethics, feminism study, and so on have researched about relations of human and animal. Under a determination that a new wave of animal studies would be a basic research for theology, this article introduces and analyzes different areas of animal studies, and suggests new theological interpretations and solutions after exploring a possibility of how various areas of animal studies could be utilized in Christian theology. In particular, this article provides theologically basic discussions which not only include animals, but also are necessary to reconstruct the doctrine of creation, Christology, and Soteriology in a way that makes a contribution to respect animals.
