뛰어난 즉흥연주자였던 루드비히 판 베토벤(Ludwig van Beethoven, 1750-1827)은 그의 작품 전반에 형식을 뛰어넘는 음악적 ‘판타지’를 구현해냈다. 본 연구는 이러한 베토벤의 독창적인 연주와 작곡 스타일에 영향을 준 중요한 인물로 칼 필립 엠마누엘 바흐(Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, 1714-1788)가 있음을 상기시키고자 하였다. 베토벤은 스승 크리스티안 고트로프 네페(Christian Gottlob Neefe, 1748 -1798)를 통해 칼 필립 엠마누엘 바흐의 음악관을 전수받고, 시론서와 작품 연구를 통해 감정과 내면의 표현에 집중하며 음악적 ‘판타지’를 발현시켰다. 본고에서는 베토벤이 자신의 즉흥연주를 기반으로 한 작품 <피아노 판타지 Op. 77>의 음악적 흐름을 음악학자 시스만이 언급했던 수사학적 전개방식으로 해석해 보고,칼 필립 엠마누엘 바흐가 중요시했던 설득력 있는 연주와 내면의 감정표현이 베토벤의 ‘판타지’에 영향을 주었음을 논의하였다.
Abstract
A brilliant improvisational musician, Ludwig van Beethoven composed the unique piece, The Fantasy. This study posits Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach as a major influences on Beethoven's original performance and style of composition. Beethoven was influenced by Christian Gottlob Neefe, who admired Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Through his study of Bach's essay and works, he expanded The Fantasy, focusing on emotions and inner expressions. This study uses a rhetoric mentioned by Sisman to prove a connection between Beethoven’s The Fantasy, Op. 77 and Bach’s improvisational performance and emotive expressions. This study concludes that Bach’s focus on creating emotional impact for his audiences contributed to the success of Beethoven’s music.
