춤 오디션 프로그램에 대한 무용학의 관심이 예술춤의 대중화에 편중된 상황에서 본 연구는 절실함의 정동에 주목해 <스테이지파이터>에 나타난 무용수의 자기통치 및 정동노동을 분석했다. <스테이지파이터>는 이상적인 무용수를 ‘다재다능하고 절실한 몸’이라 상정하고 무용수를 피지컬과 테크닉을 포함한 모든 인적 자원을 관리하고 통제하는 신자유주의적 주체로 호명했다. 이에 따라 무용수는 절실함을 노동윤리 및 미적 원리로 받아들이며 자기통치성을 발휘하고, 신체적인 움직임 수행뿐 아니라 절실함을 생산하고 표현하는 정동노동을 수행했다. 본 연구는 오디션 프로그램에서 무용수가 신자유주의적 자기통치를 내면화하고 정동노동에 동원되는 이유는 몸, 움직임, 주체의 연관성을 전제하고 춤을 감정의 표현이라 보는 근대적 춤 이데올로기가 작동하기 때문이라 주장한다.
Abstract
Focusing on the affect of desperation, this study analyzes the self-governance and affect labor in Stage Fighter(2024, Mnet/CJ ENM). The program presents the ideal dancer as a ‘versatile and desperate body,’ positioning dancers as neoliberal subjects who manage and control not only physical and technical resources but also affect. In this context, dancers embrace desperation both as labor ethic and aesthetic principle, exercising self-governance while performing affect labor that produces and delivers desperation to the viewers. This study argues that dancers in the program readily internalize neoliberal self-governance and engage in affect labor due to the ideology of modern dance, which presupposes a direct connection between body, movement, and subjectivity, and views dance as an expression of inner emotion.
