본 연구는 초등학교의 여가교육 현황을 종합적으로 분석하여 바람직한 여가교육의 방향을 제시하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 문헌연구와 실증연구를 병행하였으며, 이는 순차적 으로 진행되었다. 문헌연구에서는 ‘여가교육의 개념 및 정의 파악’, ‘교과서 내 여가활동 요소 파악’ 및 ‘초등교사의 여가교육인식 파악’의 세 가지 범주로 전체적인 맥락을 구분하였다. 이를 바탕으로 한 실 증연구에서는 선택형, 개방형으로 구성된 설문조사를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 기초통계분석과 귀납적 범주분석을 활용하여 분석하였고, 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학교 교 사들은 여가활동의 필요성에는 공감하고 있었으나, 교육과정에서 요구하는 여가교육의 목표를 충분히 이해하지 못하는 것으로 드러났다. 둘째, 여가교육을 실시하지 않는 이유는 ‘여건(환경, 재정 및 프로 그램) 부족’ 및 ‘지도능력 부족’이 가장 큰 요인이었다. 셋째, 여가활동영역의 교육과정에 대한 평가는 전반적으로 긍정적임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 교육과정 단위의 개선방안만큼 교육주 체인 교사 개인차원이나 지역사회 연계차원의 지원이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 이를 위한 구체적인 연 계 및 지원 방안으로 첫째, 교육과정개발과 현장의 간극을 좁히기 위해 교사, 여가전문가 및 여가전공 연구자 등을 포함하는 전문가 집단이 교과서를 제작하는 것을 제안하였다. 둘째, 교사의 여가에 대한 이해 및 지도능력 함양을 위한 교사연수나 교육을 제안하였다. 현재 초등학교 교사들에게 여가교육과 관련한 직무연수나 교육 등이 충분하게 제공되지 않는다는 점에서 이러한 제도적 지원은 타당한 보완 책으로 기능할 수 있을 것이다. 마지막으로, ‘여가에 관한 교육’의 형태로 교과서가 구성되어 정규교육 이 이루어지고 있지만, 공식적인 교과목의 연계 및 비공식적인 지역사회 여가자원 연계 등을 통해 ‘여 가를 통한 교육’이 교육과정에 반영될 수 있도록 정책적 지원이 요청된다.
Abstract
The aim of this study was to analyze the current condition of leisure education in elementary school to propose the desired path of the leisure education direction in future. In order to attain, the study combined literature review and empirical study in consecutive order. Three categories have been classified based on the literature review; ‘concept and definition of leisure education’, ‘element of leisure activities based on textbook’, ‘leisure education perception of P.E teacher in elementary school. Based on the category, open and multiple questionnaires have collected. The study conducted statistical analysis and inductive category analysis. The final conclusions were as follow. First, elementary school teachers were agreed with needs of leisure activities but they do not have complete understanding of leisure education curriculum and its goal. Secondly, the main barriers which teachers faced to enforce leisure education were ‘insufficient condition (environmental, financial and program)’ and ‘ability of teaching. Lastly, overall evaluation of leisure education curriculum in leisure activity area were positive. Through conclusions above, both individual level and local community level directions were discussed. As a specific support measure for this, first, a group of experts, including teachers, leisure experts and leisure education majors, proposed making textbooks. Second, it proposed the production and dissemination of teacher training or teaching materials in order to increase the understanding of teachers' leisure concepts and to enhance their teaching ability in leisure activities. Finally, policy support is requested to ensure that 'education through leisure' is reflected in the curriculum through the link of formal subjects and informal community leisure resources.
