통일교육의 평화윤리적 접근과 교육 원리에 관한 연구

오늘날 한반도에서의 남북 관계와 통일 환경은 급격한 변화의 과정을 지나가고 있다. 그리고 그 변화 의 주요 특징들은 대체로 남북한 사이의 긴장 완화와 평화, 교류ㆍ협력 및 통일을 향한 노력 등으로 나 타나고 있다. 이 연구는 바로 이러한 격변의 시기에 우리의 학교 통일교육이 무엇을 어떻게 추구해 가 야 할 것인가에 대한 하나의 시론적 대답을 찾아보고자 하는 데 목적이 있었다. 이를 위해 이 연구에서 는 이제부터 우리의 학교 통일교육은 종래의 사회과학적ㆍ정치학적 접근 및 인문학적 접근에 더하여 윤 리학적 접근, 좀 더 구체적으로 말해 평화윤리적 접근에 터하여 추구될 필요가 있다는 관점에서 출발하 였다. 그리하여 먼저, 그러한 노력이 왜 필요한지와 관련하여 이론적 측면에서 평화에 담겨 있는 원초 적인 윤리적 의미, 속성을 분석해 내는 한편, 실제적 측면에서 남과 북이 진정으로 사람의 통일, 마음의 통일을 이루기 위해 그 같은 접근이 절실함을 지적하였다. 이어서, 통일교육의 평화윤리적 접근의 구체 적 내용으로서 평화윤리 6덕을 제시하였는데 구체적으로 지혜, 존중, 배려, 정의, 책임, 그리고 협동이 그것이다. 아울러 이러한 덕들이 왜 중요한지 그 근거와 함께 자라나는 세대들 속에 구체적으로 어떤 내용 요소들이 길러져야 하는지 등에 대해서 논의하였다. 나아가 이러한 덕들을 기르기 위한 교육적 원 리로서 덕ㆍ인격을 구성하는 이성과 정념 및 행동 측면의 제요소를 통합적으로 추구하는 교육 원리 및 적절한 지도 방법들의 적용을 예시, 강조하였다. 마지막으로 향후 우리가 지향하는 ‘새로운 조국’으로서 의 통일국가는 구성원들의 도덕적 자기 완성을 통한 진정한 행복 실현을 그 존재의 본질 및 목적으로 하는 그러한 국가관에 의거해야 하며, 이런 점에서 향후 우리의 통일교육은 평화윤리 중심의 도덕ㆍ인 성교육적 접근을 그 중요한 굴대의 하나로 하여 추구해갈 필요가 있음을 강조하였다.
Abstract
Today, North-South Korea relations and the environment of unification on the Korean Peninsula have been going through dramatic changes. The main characteristics of the change are generally expressed as a lessening of tensions between the two Koreas, peace, exchanges and cooperation, and efforts toward unification. The purpose of this study was to find a possible answer to what and how to pursue our school unification education in the period of upheaval. To this end, this study has started from the viewpoint that our school unification education needs to pursue a peace ethics approach in addition to the previous social scientific/political approach and humanistic approach. So, I first analyzed the fundamentally ethical meaning and traits contained in peace for the theoretical aspect regarding why such efforts are needed. On the other hand, I pointed out the desperation of this approach to reach a real unity of peoples and minds between the two Koreas for practical terms. Then, I presented six virtues of peace ethics as concrete contents of peace ethical approach of unification education. I also discussed why these virtues are important and which elements should be cultivated specifically. In addition, I presented the educational principles and proper teaching-learning methodes for raising these virtues and emphasized educational efforts integrally seeking elements of reason, passion, and acts consisting of virtues and character. Finally, I emphasized that we should pursue moral nation as a new country and that, so, our unification education should pursue a peace ethics approach and moral character education based on peace ethics.
