본 논문의 목적은 한국고유사상의 본질과 거기에 함유된 이념적 특성을 탐구하려는 데 있다. 한국사상의 원형이라는 위상을 지닌 단군신화는 한국사상의 출발점이 된다. 단군신화에는 우리 고유사상의 성격을 결정하는 특성이 들어있다고 생각한다. 그것은 현재의 인간 세상에 무게중심을 두며, 인도주의적 특성을 뚜렷하게 잘 보여주고 있다는 데에서 확인해 볼 수 있다. 단군신화에 나타난 ‘홍익인간’의 이념은 무엇보다 보편적 인간주의를 지향한다. 주지하듯이, 오늘날 우리들이 살아가는 시대는 세계화 시대이며, 다문화 시대이다. 과학기술의 발전에 힘입어 민족 간 활발한 왕래와 만남이 나날이 증대하고 있다. 이러한 시대에 우리 한민족이 제시하는 융합과 조화의 ‘홍익인간’ 이념은 우리들에게 매우 큰 시사점을 던져준다. 단군신화에 이어 한국고유사상에 대한 논의를 전개함에 있어 자주 언급되는 사상가로 최치원을 손꼽을 수 있다. 그는 유불도에 대해 일가견을 지녔던 신라시대의 사상가로서 한국사상사에 있어서 빠뜨릴 수 없는 중요한 위상을 차지한다. 그는 당시 사상계를 주도하고 있던 유불도 삼교사상에 대하여 각자의 특성을 인정하면서도 상호 조화와 융합을 주장하는 모습을 견지하였다. 최치원이 삼교융합이라는 기본 구도를 통해 ‘풍류도’를 이해하려 한 것은 궁극적으로 ‘홍익인간’ 정신과의 연결을 도모한 것이라 볼 수 있다. 우리의 고유한 문화와 전통을 가장 민족적이고, 원형적으로 잘 살려서 세계에 널리 알리는 것은 오늘날 바람직한 세계화의 열려 있는 자세로서 ‘홍익인간’ 이념의 세계적 구현이라는 점에서 그 의의가 적지 않은 것이라 하겠다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to explore the nature of Korean indigenous thoughts and the ideological characteristics contained in them. The Dangun myth, which has the status of the prototype of Korean history, is the starting point of Korean history. I think that the Dangun myth contains characteristics that determine the nature of our own thoughts. It emphasizes the human world in this world, not the afterlife, and it can be confirmed that animals as well as the godmothers hope to become humans and symbolically shows the anthropocentrism that benefits humans. The ideology of 'Hongik Man' in the Dangun myth aims for universal humanism above all else. As is well known, the era in which we live today is an era of globalization and multiculturalism. Thanks to the development of science and technology, active exchanges and encounters between ethnic groups are increasing day by day. In this era, the 'Hongik Man' ideology of convergence and harmony presented by the Korean people casts great implications for us. Following the Dangun myth, Choi Chi-won is a frequently mentioned thinker in discussing Korean unique ideology. He is an indispensable and important position in the history of Korean history as a thinker of the Silla Dynasty who had a single view of Yubuldo. He acknowledged the characteristics of each of the three Confucian ideas that led the ideological world at the time, but maintained a stance of mutual harmony and convergence. Choi Chi-won's attempt to understand 'Pungryudo' through the basic structure of the Samgyo Convergence can be seen as ultimately seeking to connect with the spirit of 'Hongik Man'. This is because he tried to understand our history and culture in relation to the flow of world history. It is of considerable significance in that it is the globalization of the 'Hongik Man' ideology as an open attitude of globalization that is desirable today.
